Aperol Spritz

Is there a more quintessential warm weather cocktail than the Aperol Spritz?

Okay there are a lot of sunny day cocktails, but the Aperol Spritz is at least in the top 5 on everyone’s favorites list.

It’s a simple recipe that’s easy as 1, 2, 3– which is actually a great way to remember the recipe proportions. Although this simple cocktail does not require shaking or stirring (or even measuring– you can “eyeball” this one and be okay), it is helpful to add the ingredients to your glass in the right order.

If you add the Aperol first, it will settle in the bottom when you add the bubbles on top. Sure you can stir it up a bit, but stirring also flattens bubbles, which we don’t want (especially in a Spritz). Simply start by adding the Prosecco first, then the Aperol and topping with a bit of soda water. Then as you add the orange slice into the drink for garnish, that will help to gently combine the ingredients without the need to stir.
